Pros: Can't think of any, as much as I've tried Cons: Dishonest about its John Bircher origins; questionable logic
Here's my problem with New American, or at least one of them:
It engages in exactly the kind of pseudo-logic and suggestion we've been warned about since high school, allowing the magazine to smear by suggestion if not outright lie.

Pros: Covers many insidious aspects of government that the mainstream media ignores. Cons: Alot of conspiracy theories and religonism.
The New American is a biweekly news magazine published by American Opinion Publishing, Inc., which is affiliated with the radical, right-wing organization The John Birch Society (although you would not know this, because the magazine...
Pros: forward thinking, great visuals, accurate articles Cons: editorials are quite opinionated
The 'New American' Magazine gives attention to issues
usually not presented in the mainstream media outlets.
It adds insight and perspective to matters vital to
those interested in current events and politics. It
often 'scoops' other...
Pros: conservatives like it Cons: liberals don't like it
I subscribe to this magazine because it is an alternative to the "media"
magazines such as Time, Newsweek, Etc. I like the articles on the environment that are printed in this magazine. They describe the scientific background of...
Pros: Constitutionally and morally sound. Cons: None
I have been reading this magazine since I was in Junior High School, for nearly 18 years now, and have found it to always be right on the money on every subject. The research and analysis is without par. If you are a strict constitutionalist, as I am,...
Pros: It is the truth Cons: not everyone wants the truth
The New American is by far the most reliable magazine in the world. No other magazine covers the political ring like this one. It tells it like it is and it does not pull the punches. It does not take sides right or left it is for the truth. The magazine...
Pros: Very well researched and varied in content Cons: Rather prohibitively expensive for foreign markets
Whether or not you always agree with THE NEW AMERICAN's opinions, you can't dispute its coverage of facts, or the trouble that it takes to unearth -- often alarming -- stories which simply cannot be read elsewhere. Perhaps this publication's most notable...
A different view, a better view by shan128 ,Mar 12 '04
Pros: Always well-written, avoids the boring jargon(and content) that fills many political journals. Cons: Once in awhile, the magazine seems to go over the same ground in multiple articles.
I recently became re-interested in politics after a long period of apathy and disgust. This was one of several political magazines that I subscribed to, and it's by far the best. Yes, there is a tendency to conspiracy theory, but instead of the usual wild-eyed nonsense that the word "conspiracy" usually conjures up, this magazine relies on factual, provable theses with little of the weird stuff that is found in Texe Marrs and others of his ilk. Other issues dealt with on a regular basis include The United Nations and its clear anti-Americanism, Uncontrolled immigration (fast becoming THE issue of the 2000's), The so-called "Free Trade Area of the Americas" pact which will send even more American jobs to the third world, and increasing abuses of federal power to enforce social conformity. In short, these are ALL issues that the average conservative or libertarian is concerned about and one shouldn't allow media hatchet jobs on the John Birch Society deter you from reading this excellent journal.
